Museum "Rukavishnikov Estate"
About museum
The Rukavishnikov Estate is the main building of the Nizhny Novgorod State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve and is a monument of 19th-century civil architecture. In the formal entrance visitors are greeted by a richly decorated staircase adorned with stucco, paintings, and mirrors. On the first floor there is a foyer and a library, and on the second floor a formal enfilade begins with the owners' dining room, decorated in the Russian style. During the life of the Rukavishnikov family the rooms of the formal enfilade served as parlors; today they present a typological reconstruction of the residential interior of a Russian merchant's estate. The museum also regularly hosts exhibitions drawn from museum collections, as well as concerts and other events.
