Udomlya Local History Museum
About museum
In 1977 the Udomlya Museum was opened in Udomlya. The first exhibition, "Peasant Life", was presented in the House of Culture. In 1982 the museum became part of the Tver State United Museum. In the 1990s the museum moved to a new building. It features sections on archaeology, nature, materials from the Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant, peasant life, and notable local figures. On May 17, 2002 the museum celebrated its 25th anniversary and opened the exhibition "We brought this day closer as best we could" about the Udomlya region in the pre-war years and during the Great Patriotic War. The museum also hosts literary evenings, local history readings, master classes in various types of applied arts, themed lectures, and provides assistance to school museums. Thus, the museum is an interesting place to study the history and culture of Udomlya.
