About museum

For more than 50 years the Murmansk Regional Museum of Local Lore territorial department for the history, culture and everyday life of the Kola Sami has been operating in the village of Lovozero. It displays antique objects and clothing related to reindeer herding, hunting and fishing, donated by local residents. On an area of 400 sq. m there are almost a thousand museum exhibits that tell about the culture of various northern peoples, their history and interconnections. The museum hosts various educational events, as well as exhibitions of applied arts, artistic works and children's creativity. The museum's task is to truthfully and accurately present the future in new exhibitions. To date the Lovozero museum is the only museum about Russian Sámi not only on the Kola Peninsula but in all of Russia.
