Temryuk Historical and Archaeological Museum
About museum
Temryuk Historical and Archaeological Museum is one of the oldest museums in Krasnodar Krai. It was established in 1920 at the initiative of the city's teachers, led by local historian and researcher of the Taman Peninsula Sergey Frantsevich Voytsekhovsky. In the 1960s the museum opened a hall dedicated to nature and the history of the Kuban Cossacks, and in the early 1980s a re-exposition of all halls was carried out. In 1979 the Temryuk museum joined the Krasnodar State Historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve named after E.D. Felitsyn, and in 1983 one of the oldest buildings in the city — a former pharmacy built at the end of the 19th century — was transferred to it. The museum is still located there today and the building is an architectural monument. In addition, exhibitions from the museum's collections dedicated to the history of the Bosporan Kingdom, the Great Patriotic War, the nature of Taman and the port of Temryuk are held throughout the year.
