Sredneakhtubinsky District Museum of History and Local Lore
About museum
On January 1, 1988, a museum was opened in the historic merchant house of V. Garyakin, built at the end of the 19th century. The museum's collection totals 3,000 exhibit items. The first donor was local artist N. Podlesnov, who donated 60 of his paintings to the museum, from which the "Painting" collection was formed. In subsequent years, new collections were added to the museum's holdings: "Numismatics", "World of Technology: 1930s-1980s", and "Photography". A virtual museum program was developed, focused on patriotic education and the cultural-historical heritage. The museum hosts the clubs "Pages of History" and "Antiquity Lovers Club". The permanent exhibition is dedicated to "The Daily Life of Sredneakhtubinsky Residents in the Late 19th - Early 20th Century". Exhibitions planned for 2022 include: "The Left Bank of the Volga During the Great Patriotic War", "World of Technology: 1930s-1980s", "Our Region in Antiquity", "Works of Masters of Decorative and Applied Arts of the Sredneakhtubinsky District", "The Volga-Akhtuba Floodplain - the Pearl of the District", "Toys of Bygone Years", "School of the 20th Century."
