Sovetsky Local History Museum
About museum
On January 14, 1979, at the initiative of the local community and war and labor veterans, by decision of the district executive committee the Sovetsky Local History Museum was established. It is dedicated to Nikolai Alexandrovich Nemtsov — a teacher, a participant in the Great Patriotic War and the Battle of Kursk, a labor veteran and local historian. Personal belongings of war veterans, teachers, students of district schools, cultural workers and simply enthusiasts of antiquities were transferred to the museum. The museum's exhibition presents the history of the Kshen area from the second half of the 17th century to the present day, as well as information on the emergence and development of the settlement of Kshensky, famous locals, nine Heroes of the Soviet Union and four full recipients of the Order of Glory. Each year the museum is visited by more than three thousand people.
