Sherkalsky Ethnographic Museum
About museum
On December 30, 1982, the day of the formation of the USSR, the Sherkalsky Museum was opened. In 1990 it became a branch of the district local history museum, and in 1992 it joined the structure of the Oktyabrsky District Department of Culture. The development of the museum is thanks to representatives of the national intelligentsia: Mitrofan Alekseevich Tebetev, Tamara Vasilievna Diodorova, Darya Mikhailovna Glebova, Galina Ivanovna Tribus and Maria Gerasimovna Zvereva. The museum presents the exhibition "Main Occupations and Crafts", which reflects the culture and everyday life of the Middle-Ob Khanty in the 1930s–1950s. Visitors can see kitchen utensils, musical instruments, clothing, and ornamentation on birch bark and textiles. The main activities of the museum are the study, classification and systematization of the museum collection; guided tours, lectures and exhibition work; and exhibition and cultural-educational activities.
