Sengileyevsky District Local History Museum named after A.I. Soluyanov
About museum
On February 24, 1964, a local history museum was founded in the town of Sengiley — the first non-state museum in the Ulyanovsk Region. On July 21, 1986, the Ministry of Culture of the RSFSR awarded the museum the title "People's Museum." It is a member of the Union of Museums of Russia and the Council of Museums of the Volga Federal District. Until January 2020 the museum was located at 22 Lenin Street, in a building registered as a cultural heritage site of the Ulyanovsk Region. Over the past 56 years the museum's collections have grown to 16,300 items, but the premises were insufficient for normal operation. Therefore, by order of the Governor of the Ulyanovsk Region S. I. Morozov and the Administration of the municipal formation "Sengileyevsky District," a decision was made to relocate the local history museum to a more spacious two-story building with an area of 404 sq. m. The building was constructed in the second half of the 19th century and is called the "House of Merchant Berezin" (address: 8 Oktyabrskaya Street). In 2016 a decision was made to include the building in the register of cultural heritage monuments of the Ulyanovsk Region.
