About museum
\n\nIn 2018 the District Local History Museum celebrated its 30th anniversary since its founding in 1988. In 1990 the first displays and exhibitions were opened to visitors in the building of the former merchant house on Krasnoarmeyskaya Street. The museum is now located on the second floor of the sports school, and the museum collection comprises more than 5,800 items. The permanent exhibitions display 3,178 exhibits representing the history of the Shabalinsky area, including military history, as well as peasant life of the early and mid-20th century and folk art. The museum has two permanent halls and an exhibition hall, and also hosts tours, themed sessions, museum classes, seminars and lectures, literary and musical evenings and master classes. The museum's calling card has become the author's photo exhibitions by Shabalinsky photographer V. Zhuravlev. Each year the museum receives more than 8,000 visitors. It constantly seeks new forms of activity, works with all segments of the population, including children and youth, and also performs an educational role.
