Natural-Ethnographic Park-Museum 'Zhivun'
About museum
Natural-Ethnographic Park-Museum 'Zhivun' was founded in 1999 and is a branch of the Shuryshkarsky District historical and local history complex. It is a distinctive link among the museums of the Shuryshkarsky District, focused on various aspects of the ethnic architectural traditions of the northern Khanty. The park-museum is located in the village of Khanty-Muzhi, near the Malaya Ob River. Around the village there are rich fishing and hunting grounds, as well as forests with many berries, pine cones and mushrooms. In the floodplain of the Malaya Ob there is an ice-free fishing lake that gave its name to the village and the museum. Currently the museum includes nine exhibition complexes: 'Winter Complex', 'Summer Complex', 'Sacred Place', 'Hunting Trail', 'Kunovat Shrine Complex', 'Reindeer Herding Camp' and the 'Voykar Complex with a two-story barn'. Each of them is equipped with traditional elements that help to understand the history of the Khanty and their culture.
