Ponyrovsky Historical and Memorial Museum of the Battle of Kursk
About museum
In 1964 the museum was established and opened on the basis of Ponyrovskaya secondary school. It presents materials about events that took place in the district during the war period: occupation, the partisan movement, and the liberation in 1943. The museum also displays photographs and documents related to the preparations for the battle on the Kursk Salient and the Ponyri operation of 1943. The exhibition includes reproductions of unit banners and a diorama 'The Battle for Ponyri Station, July 10, 1943.' The memory of the soldiers who fought in battles on the district's territory is also preserved. On the museum grounds there is an exhibition complex 'The Forefront of Defense. July 1943.' Each year the museum is visited by up to 15 thousand people, including guests from other countries.
