About museum
The museum building was constructed in the early 20th century and is a unique place where you can learn a lot of interesting information about the Gagarin princes, their role in the development of the village of Sergievskoye (now the town of Plavsk), as well as about the merchants Cheremushkin, Sazonov and others. You will also learn how the village of Sergievskoye became the town of Plavsk, about fellow countrymen who were Heroes of the Soviet Union, their great deeds, and the liberators of Plavsk. In addition, you can visit a Russian izba and learn about distinctive features of the life of the Russian people, national traditions and customs of home decoration and ornamentation. The museum displays peasant tools and handicraft items, and you can also make a Tula folk toy with your own hands. In the museum you will find many interesting exhibits and learn much new about the ancient history of the region.
