About museum
The museum was founded in 1918 and opened to visitors on May 28, 1919. Its collection comprises over 100,000 items: unique wooden sculptures, ancient icon painting, precious treasures from monastery treasuries, objects of peasant everyday life and noble household items. In the center of Pereslavl operates the Museum Center 'On Rostovskaya', which hosts numerous exhibitions, lectures, concerts and master classes. The museum has two branches: the Museum-Estate 'Botik of Peter I' and the 'Ganshin Estate' museum. Each year more than 200,000 people visit the museum and its branches. The museum offers many tours of the exhibitions and city monuments, interactive and historical-art programs. Events such as Christmas at the Museum, Maslenitsa, 'Night of Museums', 'Island of Childhood' and Navy Day are also held here and attract thousands of guests.
