Sokolniki Park was opened on May 16, 1931, and is the oldest and one of the largest in Europe. It is divided into three parts: the central area, which contains the main infrastructure facilities; the forest park; and a specially protected natural area connected to the Losiny Ostrov National Park. In the first quarter of 2021 the park was visited by 3,694,000 people, with a throughput capacity of 120,000 people. The site covers 515.7 hectares. The park offers renovated concert and dance stages, a large amusement park with rides, shooting ranges, dance verandas, an information point, mother-and-child rooms, sports equipment rental points and cafes. The park attracts many visitors with festivals, sporting events, musical and entertainment programs, literary evenings, concerts by professional and amateur performers, and brass and symphony orchestras designed for people of all age groups.
