Oktyabrsky Local History Museum
About museum
On February 25, 1987, in honor of the 27th Congress of the CPSU, the Oktyabrsky Local History Museum was opened; it had been prepared following the bureau of the district committee of the CPSU's decision on August 11, 1982. The museum features four thematic halls: the 'History of the District's Formation' hall; the 'Hall of Military Glory — the participation of Oktyabrsky residents in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945'; 'Labor Achievements during the Years of Developed Socialism'; and 'Nature of the Oktyabrsky District'. The museum regularly hosts mass events, and a club called 'Selyanochka' was established, where members organize personal exhibitions of applied arts. The museum actively cooperates with the district's schools and kindergartens, heads of rural settlements, as well as with employees of the ROVD (district police), the border commandant's office, and environmental protection specialists. Forms and methods of conducting events are continuously improved to attract visitors.
