The Siberian House of Scientists was founded in Novosibirsk in the 1960s at the initiative of Academician M. A. Lavrentyev, who continued the long-standing tradition of establishing such institutions in Moscow and Leningrad. It was intended to provide future Novosibirsk academicians with a place for meetings and conferences, as well as for leisure in a modern, well-equipped assembly hall with a cozy intellectual atmosphere. From the very beginning the House of Scientists came to life. Today it is a large complex for leisure activities where one can take part in various club activities, enjoy cultural life, participate in scientific symposia, and meet in contemporary comfortable spaces. Science and art, physics and lyricism are equally important here. The doors of the House of Scientists are open to everyone who is active, loves creativity, is engaged in science, or is interested in music, painting, cinema, literature, dance, or sport.
