About museum
\r\nOn December 10, 1990, at the initiative of local resident Anatoly Nikolaevich Khomyakov, the Uchinsky Ethnographic Museum was opened. At the start of its activity there were several dozen exhibits, and today on an area of 3,000 sq. m stands a distinctive museum complex representing the ancient culture of the eastern (Kondinsk) Mansi and the history of the native region from antiquity to the present day. All buildings are life-size and adhere to the folk traditions of the late 18th – early 20th centuries. The main part of the exhibition is a Mansi homestead with a log house, a canopy for horse-drawn transport, barns and a maternity house. There is also a sacred site of the Kaurtaev family, and within it — a summer two-sided balagan with stoves for cooking and baking bread.
