Museum and Exhibition Center of Cheboksary
About museum
In 1884 merchant P. E. Efremov erected the building of the Museum and Exhibition Center. After the owner's death in 1907 it passed to his son S. P. Efremov. Later, after the revolution, various organizations were housed in this building, including the Cheboksary Uyezd Committee of the RCP(b), the People's House, the Cheboksary City Executive Committee, the NKVD, the OGPU, the KGB, and the V. I. Lenin Museum. In 1981 the building became the Chuvash National Museum. Memorial plaques with texts in Russian and Chuvash are installed on the building, marking important historical events that took place there. The Museum and Exhibition Center houses the Museum of Military Glory and the Traditional Ritual Hall. It is an important historical and cultural site in Chuvashia.
