Museum of the Zhostovo Decorative Painting Factory
About museum
An excursion to the only museum in the world devoted to "paintings on metal" will let you get close to the history of the craft, from its origins to the present day, learn about all stages of production and see the process of painting a tray.
At Zhostovo, wonderful flowers have been painted since 1825. The Zhostovo bouquet is one of the most vivid symbols of contemporary folk art. Each item is unique, hand-painted and shows the individual style of its author. The collection includes works by masters of world renown.
You will learn about the production process — forging, stamping and varnishing of the trays — from a video presentation.
Along with the tour you can book a master class to paint your own tray. You will become a Zhostovo painter and, under the careful guidance of the factory artists, create your floral composition on a real tray. After you paint the tray and add your personal signature, the item will be dried in a special oven and lacquered. It can be collected at the factory in Zhostovo or at the company’s branded store in central Moscow within a month.
After the tour and master class, stop by the factory shop. Here you can buy not only a tray you like — Zhostovo painting also decorates other items: tableware, interior objects and even clothing.
Tours and master classes are held at the factory every day for organized groups and individual visitors, and on weekends for mixed groups.
The tour and master class are suitable for children aged 4 and up and adults.
Tour duration — 1 hour, price — from 150 rubles.
Master class duration — 1 hour, combined tour and master class price — from 650 rubles.
