F. M. Dostoevsky Estate-Museum 'Darovoe'
About museum
Darovoe, the Zaraysk hamlet, is a place associated with the childhood of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky. He spent his childhood years here, became acquainted with Russian nature, the everyday life of a country estate, and the life of peasants. These impressions later found reflection in the writer's work. Today Darovoe is part of the State Museum-Reserve 'Zaraysk Kremlin'. The natural-historical landscape that F. M. Dostoevsky loved and remembered has been preserved here. On the estate grounds there is a boundary rampart, a park, an orchard, as well as a pond that owes its creation to the Dostoevskys' stay in Darovoe. The manor house presents an exhibition about the Dostoevskys' time here. On the grounds there is a monument to F. M. Dostoevsky, installed in 1993. A walk through the estate offers unforgettable impressions: you can follow the same paths that little Fedya Dostoevsky ran, feel the centuries-old oaks and lindens, and see 'Fedya's Grove' — a favorite place for children's games.
