Rybinsk Sea Museum
About museum
The museum, part of the Rybinsk Museum-Reserve, is dedicated to the history of one of the world's largest reservoirs. It is housed in a wooden building that formerly served as a maternity hospital and was moved from the nearby village of Pogorelka. The museum's exhibits provide insight into the reservoir's geological past, the flooded Mologa region and the village of Koprina, as well as the construction of the hydroelectric complex and contemporary life on the Rybinsk Sea. On display are models of river vessels — kabestan, konovodka, tuer — a raft of a resettled Mologa resident, and newsreels from the 1930s about the construction of the hydro complex. Visitors can also view documentary films about the past and present of the Rybinsk Reservoir.
