Nature Museum of the Teberda State Natural Biosphere Reserve
About museum
The Nature Museum is located in the reserve's estate. The building was constructed to a design by the local architect Vladimir Frantsevich Krachevsky. In 1958 the construction of a new museum building was completed. The artist P. M. Grechishkin donated three paintings (panels) to the museum. The biogroup displays were created by taxidermist S. D. Kuligin. In 1959 the museum was opened to visitors. In 1971–1973 the reserve director A. A. Barabanshchikov initiated a complete reconstruction of the museum. The work was carried out by artists from the USSR Art Fund: Fedor Fedorovich Vorotnikov, Vladimir Vasilievich Nikulin and Nikolai Budnikov. The museum features four exhibition halls: the Introductory Hall, the Gallery with Dioramas, the "Forest Belt" Hall and the "Subalpine and Alpine Belts" Hall. All halls present various exhibits reflecting the reserve's natural environment.
