About museum
In the Belgorod region you can find many historical sites, antiquities, museums and other tourist attractions. It is especially interesting to visit the Belogorye Nature Museum in the village of Bolshoye, Prokhorovsky District. The museum's history began in 1991, when a biology teacher collected specimens of the local flora and fauna. Today the museum displays more than 20,000 exhibition items that represent the full composition of Belogorye's flora and fauna. The museum houses valuable fossils, fragments of extinct animals and plants, rocks and minerals, and insects, including exotic species. The museum also has a biological laboratory, a scientific library and a conference hall. Laboratory research and scientific exploratory work are carried out here, including work on the Red Book of the Prokhorovsky District. A visit to the museum provides an opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of the rich animal and plant life of Belogorye.
