Museum of Music and Folklore of the Peoples of Yakutia
About museum
The Museum of Music and Folklore of the Peoples of Yakutia opened in January 1990 and was recognized as a state republican museum in January 1991. It houses instruments created by masters of Yakut musical culture, including I. D. Izbekov-Uus, P. E. Sleptsov, and A. V. Brodnikov. The museum also exhibits musical instruments from Tunguso-Manchuria made by masters V. T. Kyaunzig, K. S. Kimonko, M. M. Kyalunzig, Yu. A. Oktanko, P. E. Nikolaeva, and E. N. Bokova. The museum contains a library of rare books by the scholar-folklorist G. U. Germogenov-Ergis, as well as a collection of handwritten manuscripts and autographs of masters and folklore researchers. The museum also preserves folklore audio recordings from field expeditions, folklore concerts, and the work of folklorist scholars.
