Museum of Peasant Life in the village of Gorki
About museum
The history of the founding of the 'Gorki Leninskie' museum dates back to 1921, when V. I. Lenin came to the village of Gorki to launch the practical implementation of the GOELRO plan. To commemorate the event, the Shulgin family preserved the home interior and donated the izba with all its outbuildings to the museum. In 1983 a Museum of V. I. Lenin was opened in the house, presenting visitors with household items, clothing, furniture, tools, vehicles, farm buildings and other objects that surrounded peasants in everyday life. In the izba you can see a Russian stove, oven hooks of various sizes, a poker, a pan lifter, charcoal irons and the 'red corner' with icons. There is also the table at which the family gathered, and lighting was provided by a kerosene lamp.
