Kovrov is one of Russia’s three arms capitals. In 2020–2021 the town opened the country’s third museum dedicated to the history of domestic weaponry. The museum presents the history of the formation and development of the Kovrov arms complex from the early 20th century to the present day. Various types of weapons, equipment, devices and components of weapons systems, as well as documents, photographs, and personal belongings of gunsmiths and other notable figures, have been collected here. The museum offers guided tours titled "Kovrov — the Forge of Victory's Weapons" and "Kovrov — Russia’s Defensive Shield." These tours cover the emergence of the Kovrov weapons school in 1916–1921, its postwar development, and weapons production from 1916 through the early 2000s. Thus, the museum presents a unique exhibition on the history of Kovrov weaponry.
