Kalinin Front Museum
About museum
Kalinin Front Museum was opened in 2005 — for the 60th anniversary of the Soviet Union's Victory in the Great Patriotic War. It is located in the settlement of Emmaus, 16 km from the regional center — Tver, formerly Kalinin, after which the large military formation created in the vicinity of the city was named — the Kalinin Front. At this place on December 5, 1941, the front's troops broke through the German forces' defenses, thereby beginning the Red Army's counteroffensive near Moscow.

\r\nThe museum has two exhibition halls, an exhibition and a lecture hall. The artistic design and color scheme of the exhibition are aimed at recreating the spirit of wartime. The museum's lecture hall displays photographs by Kalinin Front correspondent B.E. Vdovenko and works by German photographers. The exhibition hall houses the permanent exhibition "Childhood Scorched by War".
