About museum

Seven permanent exhibitions are displayed at the Oek Village History Museum. The exhibition hall features antique agricultural tools as well as taxidermied animals and birds of the Baikal region. The 'Ancient World' exhibit displays bones of fossil animals and tools of prehistoric humans. The 'Russian Izba' presents the interior of a Siberian home with a Russian stove, furniture, and household utensils. The 'Decembrists' Corner' tells the story of F. Vadkovsky and S. Trubetskoy, who lived in the village from 1839 to 1845. The section of the museum devoted to the Civil War and collectivization includes a bust of P. Nikiforov, Prime Minister of the Far Eastern Republic. The 'Hall of Military Glory' contains information about residents of the Oek municipal formation who took part in military conflicts. The final exhibition is dedicated to working people, including Hero of Socialist Labor I. Bashirin, as well as honorary citizens of the Oek municipal district.
