Nolinsk Museum of History and Local Lore
About museum
In 1944 the first museum was closed due to lack of funds during the war. However, on July 1, 1994 it was reopened. In 1995, to mark the 55th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the first thematic exhibition was prepared. Today the museum houses more than 9,000 exhibits, some of which illustrate the life of peasants in the Nolinsk uyezd, the activities of the merchant class, and the labor and combat feats of local residents. Particularly interesting is the collection of radio equipment, the matryoshka exhibition, and the 'Museum of Gingerbread and Lemonade'. The museum also features the exhibition 'Pine Forest - a Natural Monument of the Nolinsk District', showcasing the diversity of animals and plants. As part of its activities the museum hosts master classes, exhibitions, meetings and forums of various public organizations.
