Svirsk City History Museum
About museum
In 1982 the Svirsk City History Museum was established, originally intended to celebrate the military and labor glory of the Vostsibelement plant. The museum currently holds an extensive collection of 2,030 items, as well as 5,380 items in its research and auxiliary fund. The museum displays photographs, documents, household items, ethnographic materials, as well as collections of equipment, archaeological objects and other items. In 2016 the museum won the 13th grant competition for museum projects "A Changing Museum in a Changing World" of the V. Potanin Charitable Foundation in the "Museum Start" category. Thanks to the implementation of the project "Liquidation," an independent space called the "Museum of Arsenic" was opened. The museum also published a three-volume documentary collection "Through the Fire and Ashes of War" about Svirsk veterans who served at the front, and in 2019 the book "Essays on the History of the Town of Svirsk" was published.
