The museum's main exhibition is devoted to the history of the city and its inhabitants from the late 18th to the early 20th century. The 'Working People of Astrakhan' hall presents materials on the everyday life of peasants and townspeople and the city's traditional crafts. The 'Ulyanovs in Astrakhan' hall displays photographs, documents and personal belongings of members of the Ulyanov family. On the museum's second floor there is the interior of a merchant's dining room and a merchant's working office, as well as information about the city's patrons.
