Museum of the Institute of Permafrost Research SB RAS
About museum
The Museum was founded in 2006 and is engaged in natural-science, scientific-technical, and historical-cultural research. It comprises three main museum-scientific complexes: an exhibition hall, the Shergin shaft, and the institute's underground scientific laboratory. The Museum's goal is to promote the study and monitoring of permafrost and the science of permafrost research in the development of northern regions. The Museum presents the history of human interaction with the cryolithozone, including the results of permafrost researchers' work. It also attracts young people to science, showcases the institute's scientific output, supports new ideas in interdisciplinary research, and performs outreach and educational functions.
