Museum "Urban Planning and Architecture of Simbirsk-Ulyanovsk"
About museum
The museum is housed in an old mansion typical of mid-19th-century Simbirsk architecture. It tells the story of the region's development from 1648 to the 1970s. The exhibition consists of seven halls presenting urban planning maps, blueprints, photographs, and drawings of surviving and lost buildings. The museum also displays rare and original artifacts, including models of the 17th-century Simbirsk kremlin, the city's first regular plan approved by Catherine II, an engraving by Makhayev showing a view of Simbirsk, and stove tiles produced in the cells of the Spassky Women's Monastery. The museum provides valuable information about the history of the city and the region.
