Municipal Art Gallery of Kostroma

The Art Gallery was founded in 1996 and is located on the ground floor of a nine-story residential building. The exhibition area is 407.8 square meters, and the collection storage area is 33.6 square meters. It houses 2,579 storage units, including 1,999 from the main collection. The gallery presents works by Russian artists of the second half of the 20th to the early 21st century, including A. Kamensky, A. Vasnetsov, N. Egorshina, V. Muravyov, B. Chernyshev, Yu. Vasiliev and B. Turetsky. In 2003 the collection acquired the legacy of Kostroma sculptor V. V. Smirnov, which includes sculptures, drawings and diaries. It comprises more than 600 exhibits.
