Moscow Zoo
About museum
Moscow Zoo is one of the oldest zoos in Europe, located in the very center of the capital of Russia, near the Garden Ring. On its extensive grounds about eight thousand animals represent nearly a thousand species of fauna. The zoo covers an area of 21.4 hectares and is divided into two parts — old and new — connected by a pedestrian bridge. The grounds include ponds with waterfowl, enclosures and pavilions with various animals. There are also cafes and souvenir shops, attractions and a playground for children. People come here not only for a walk but also to see the animals. The zoo is the main zoo of Russia, a member of WAZA, EAZA and EARAZA. It actively participates in international projects and programs and makes a significant contribution to the study and conservation of rare and endangered species.
