About museum
The museum was established in the summer of 1964.
The founder of the museum is Ivan Ivanovich Zverev - a potter, geologist and ore expert.
He is the grandson of Danila Kondratyevich Zverev - Danila the master from Bazhov's tales.
The museum is named after the famous scientist, academician A. E. Fersman.
It is located in the building of the Sretenskaya Church - one of the oldest churches in the Urals - its construction dates back to 1729.
In the museum you can see specimens of rare, unusual and sometimes unique minerals from around the world, learn about the history of crystal formation, the features of crystal growth, their physical properties, and take a closer look at the tiniest crystals. Thematic exhibition projects tell about the mineralogy of a number of unusual places, for example the Polar Urals.
