Memorial Museum "Creative Workshop of S. T. Konenkov"
About museum
The building that houses the Memorial Museum "S. T. Konenkov Creative Workshop" is a historical and cultural monument. It was built in 1939-1941 to a design by architect A. G. Mordvinov. S. T. Konenkov lived and worked here from 1947 until 1971. In 1974, on the 100th anniversary of the master, a museum was opened in his apartment-workshop. The exhibition of the S. T. Konenkov museum-workshop represents the most complete collection of the artist's works, covering all stages of his creative biography. Of particular value are the library and the photographic collection, which includes images of Konenkov's works that remain in the USA, as well as notebooks and manuscripts of articles and books. The museum collaborates with exhibition halls and galleries across the country. It hosts exhibitions of Konenkov's works and those of his students, as well as young painters and sculptors. The museum organizes scholarly conferences, seminars and round tables dedicated to art history and current issues in the art world, as well as meetings with contemporary visual artists.
