V.K. Arseniev Memorial House-Museum
About museum
Russia is home to the only remaining house-museum of V. K. Arseniev — an outstanding Russian and Soviet writer, scholar and traveling explorer. The house was built in the early 20th century and belonged to homeowner Andrey Fedorovich Zhikhov. Vladimir Klavdievich Arseniev lived in apartment No. 4 on the second floor from 1929. Since 1945 the street on which the house stands has borne his name. In 1997 the building was transferred to the museum. The house preserves furniture and household items as they were during the writer's life. His personal belongings and documents are also kept here, along with exhibits and items related to his life and work. Vladimir Klavdievich Arseniev made a significant contribution to the development of the Far East. Visiting the house-museum provides a fuller understanding of the life and work of Vladimir Klavdievich Arseniev.
