Starodub Local History Museum

The Starodub Local History Museum was officially opened on September 14, 1974. In the "Starodub Antiquities" section archaeological finds are displayed, along with materials about the Starodub regiment from the hetmanate period, information about the Decembrists A. M. Miklashevsky and A. F. Briggen, and items of noble and peasant everyday life. In addition, the museum presents information about the prominent musician of the late 19th–early 20th century, Professor of the Saint Petersburg Conservatory A. I. Rubets, who spent the last years of his life in Starodub. He worked hard and invested funds in the cultural development of the region. The exhibition "The Starodub Region during the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945" features a unique collection of weapons from that period.
