The Manturovo Local History Museum is one of the youngest and most active local history museums in Kostroma Region. It is located in the historic part of the town of Manturovo, near the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and the monument to the fallen residents of Manturovo. The museum's collections comprise more than 11,000 items. In addition to traditional exhibitions, the museum hosts various events and master classes. The museum serves as the center of local history activity in the Manturovo district. In 2001 the museum director Sergey Nikolayevich Toropov was awarded the gubernatorial prize "Recognition" and wrote several books on the history of the region. In 2017 the museum celebrated its 25th anniversary. It continues to attract numerous visitors and provide them with many memorable experiences.
