Makarov Local History Museum
About museum
In the 1970s–1980s S. V. Gorbunov, on a voluntary basis, organized the Makarov Local History Museum, which was located in a small room of the House of Pioneers and Schoolchildren. In 1992 the museum was moved to the administration building, and in 1993 it was incorporated into the structure of the Department of Culture of the town of Makarov. On April 8, 2015 it received the status of a municipal state institution. Today the museum displays animals that lived here millions of years ago, interesting minerals, household items of the Japanese who lived in the district from 1905 to 1945, as well as exhibits dedicated to S. O. Makarov. The museum has 3,925 exhibits, of which the main collection comprises 2,935 items and the scientific-auxiliary collection comprises 990 items. The museum also carries out scientific and educational activities, including children's drawing and craft competitions, lessons and lectures on local history, and events for patriotic education.
