Kuzedeev Museum of Decorative and Applied Arts
About museum
In 1979, an exhibition of applied arts was organized in the premises of the Kuzedeev House of Culture, which was the first step toward creating the museum. The museum consisted of three halls: "Applied Arts", "Work of Kuzbass Artists" and a local history hall that was being prepared. In 1986 the museum moved to the new House of Culture building. It presents exhibits ranging from items necessary for living at the end of the 18th century (clay jugs, birch-bark containers, weaving) to contemporary folk art (wood carving, painting, embroidery, rug-making). The museum also preserves a unique collection from the Kuzedeev Toy Factory, including wooden toys, dolls and papier-mâché toys, dolls and toys made of polyethylene, turned and carved wooden souvenirs, and soft toys. In addition, the museum displays collections of paintings by Kuzbass artists, documents and personal belongings of famous local residents, ethnographic objects, and archaeological finds.
