About museum
Nikolai Nikolaevich Sokolov provided the museum in Krasny Holm with a two-story house, which was opened on December 20, 1964. The museum's collection consists of archaeological and local history items, both fossils and objects of urban everyday life. In 1965 the museum counted 1,165 storage units, and now there are more than 8,000. In addition, one can find items reflecting the development of crafts and trade, as well as household items of 19th-century peasants. In 1980 the Krasnokholmsky Museum became a branch of the Kalinin State Museum. You can also see a collection of items from the Myasnikov family.
The Krasnokholmsky Local History Museum was founded on the initiative of local historians under the leadership of Nikolai Nikolaevich Sokolov. It was opened in a two-story building on Kalinina Street and has more than 8,000 storage units. In this museum you can find archaeological items, urban everyday objects, handicrafts and trade artifacts, as well as peasant household items. You can also see the Myasnikov family collection. Since 1980 the museum has been a branch of the Kalinin State Museum.
