Krasnodar Regional Art Museum named after F. A. Kovalenko
About museum
The Krasnodar Regional Art Museum is the oldest in the North Caucasus. It was opened in 1904 thanks to Fyodor Akimovich Kovalenko, who donated his collection of paintings, books and archaeological valuables to the city. Currently the museum's holdings consist of more than 13,000 works of painting, graphics, sculpture and decorative and applied arts. The collection includes works from various icon-painting schools, as well as creative explorations of the 1920s–1930s. Particularly valuable are the areas represented in the museum's collection: Russian avant-garde, Japanese color woodblock prints, 16th-century Netherlandish art, Russian and Soviet painting, and ex-libris. The museum also features virtual spaces using touch panels and an interactive book. Events dedicated to the history and culture of Krasnodar Krai are held regularly.
