About museum
On July 20, 1987, a museum was established in Krasnoborsk as a branch of the Arkhangelsk Regional Museum of Local Lore. In January 1990 it was reorganized into an independent historical-memorial and art institution. In 1993 a branch was opened in the village of Cherevkovo, and in 2004 the Center of Traditional Folk Culture merged into the museum. In 2006 the museum was named after S. I. Tupitsyn. The museum's collections comprise more than 22,000 storage units, including over 15,000 items in the main collection, among which are samovars, painted distaffs, early printed books and gold embroidery, works of painting and objects of peasant life. A special place is occupied by the Borisov collection, which includes more than 400 storage units: paintings, photographs, documents and personal belongings of the artist A. A. Borisov. The museum presents exhibitions: 'History of Krasnoborsk', 'Trades and Crafts, Peasant Life', 'Krasnoborsk in the 20th Century', 'Life and Work of A. A. Borisov', and also operates exhibition halls.
