Krapivensky Museum
About museum
The history of the Krapivensky Museum began in the 1930s. It all started with an archaeological collection assembled by teacher V. A. Syanozhentsky and his students. In 1957 the museum was registered in the cadastre of museums of educational institutions of the Tula Region. In 1990 a space was allocated to the museum in a former merchant's mansion. In 1994 the museum was granted state status, and in 1999 it became a branch of the L. N. Tolstoy Museum-Estate "Yasnaya Polyana". Today the Krapivensky Museum hosts conferences and round-table discussions, organizes exhibitions in cooperation with museums across Russia, and offers visitors a look at the everyday life of various social classes, antique maps, art exhibitions, the opportunity to try on historical costumes and take photos in period interiors, as well as the chance to purchase souvenirs.
