Verkhnekhavsky Palace of Culture
About museum
The district local history museum was founded in May 1990 in Verkhnyaya Khava in a building constructed in the second half of the 19th century by the landowner Strizhevsky in the village of Sukhie Gai. In 1918 the building was moved to Verkhnyaya Khava. The museum has four halls: 'The Region's Plant and Animal World', an ethnographic hall, 'The District During the Great Patriotic War' and an exhibition hall. The museum displays 650 exhibits, panels, photographs and albums. The museum also separately highlights the sporting achievements of Verkhnyaya Khava residents. The museum's director is Ivan Alekseevich Nesterov. In 2021 the museum's facade was renovated, and a beautiful modern square was created next to it. The museum also opened a new exhibition hall dedicated to internationalist soldiers, as well as to fellow countrymen who carried out their duty in combat operations outside Russia.
