About museum
In January 1976 local historians of the Karatuzsky District decided to begin collecting materials. As a result of their work, the Karatuzsky Historical and Local History Museum was opened in December 1986 following Decision No. 283 of the executive committee of the Council of People's Deputies. Under the regional project 'Cultural Capital of Krasnoyarsk' a new concept for the museum was developed and implemented (from January 2020 to March 2021) called 'Karatuzsky District — Border of the Empire'. The museum's exhibits cover topics such as the district's coat of arms and flag, the village of Karatuzskoye, the ancient history of the district, the Kunduskaya Pisanitsa, Old Believers in the Karatuzsky District, the Cossacks, the 'gold rush' and its consequences, the district during the Great Patriotic War, and the history of the Karatuzsky museum. The museum holds 3,777 items in its main collection, of which 682 are available for viewing.
