About museum
In 1988 the Kaliningrad Regional Museum of Fine Arts was opened in the Kaliningrad Region; it is the only art museum in this region. The permanent exhibition provides a general overview of 20th-century art and also offers the opportunity to expand knowledge about the history of the Kaliningrad Region. In addition, temporary exhibitions from various museums of Russia are held here. The museum's collection includes paintings, graphics, sculpture, and decorative and applied arts by domestic and foreign artists from the 17th to the 20th century. In 2004 a Virtual Branch of the Russian Museum was opened, providing access to the largest collection of Russian art in Russia. The museum also runs visual and theatrical art studios, as well as the Regional Resource Center for the creative development of children and adolescents.
