Historical and cultural complex at Shchekino railway station

About museum

Located eight kilometres from Yasnaya Polyana is the Shchekino railway station, which recalls the connection of the famous writer Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy with this place: it was from here that he made his final journey. Today Shchekino station is a historical and cultural complex where you can see an attraction — a stylized stopping point of the Yasenki station (until 1903) with a ticket office and a passenger carriage dating from the late 19th–early 20th century. Here you can see the conditions in which passengers of different classes traveled, and also watch film footage of Tolstoy's stay at Shchekino station.
